It can also be served in buns, with potato salad on the side. The true deliciousness gets even better by sprinkling the sauerkraut with brown sugar before baking. This was wonderful! I also use the Bavarian kraut--this gives this dish a sweeter flavor--even my kids like it. Sausages can be grilled, steamed, or boiled, but whether they are grilled, steamed, or boiled is still up to the consumer. Once browned, remove to a platter and set aside. Do not pierce before cooking. After you follow the instructions and cook them slowly over medium-low heat, the best results will be obtained.
