The upside: There's a wider range of classes available at a CC than in your typical HS, and students have a great deal of autonomy in choosing their classes. That's basically where I attend a community college full time finishing my high school credits and such cutting out the entire high school experience. Once they graduate from HS, or cease to be a HS student, the entire category they fit into changes: when they are no longer a HS student and they take Community College courses, they must apply as a transfer student to the UC system.
